15-Minute Grilled Steak Tacos topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 450 gr. skirt steak
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 0.5 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar
- 8 corn tortillas, 15 cm in diameter.
- 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 medium red onion, halved and sliced into 0.5cm wide half rings.
- Sour cream, guacamole, salsa verde, pico de gallo, and a mixture of shredded Mexican cheeses, for serving
Preparation:
- Cut the steak along the grain into 7cm pieces, then cut each piece across the grain into 0.8cm thick strips. In a medium bowl, combine the steak with chili powder, oregano, sugar, 3/4 tsp salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over high heat. Meanwhile, wrap the tortillas in a clean kitchen towel and microwave on 100% power for 1 minute. Keep the tortillas wrapped until ready to serve.
- When the pan is hot, add the oil. Place the steak in the pan in an even layer. Cook without stirring for 2 minutes, then stir the steak thoroughly and cook until browned, about 1.5 minutes more. Transfer the steak to a medium bowl. Immediately add the onion to the pan, stir, and cook until softened, about 1.5 minutes. Transfer to the bowl with the steak and stir to coat evenly.
- Prepare the taco bar for serving by setting out bowls of steak and onions, tortillas, sour cream, guacamole, salsa verde, pico de gallo, and cheese.
Sauces for serving: guacamole, salsa verde, pico de gallo.
