Hoisin Spiced Glaze

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp seasoning Five Spices
  • 1 tbsp peanut or vegetable oil
  • 1 cup Chinese Hoisin sauce
  • 3 tablespoons of honey
  • 3 tbsp. l. rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 cup of water

Preparation:

  1. Toast the five-spice powder in a saucepan with peanut oil for 1 minute over medium heat. Add hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and water.
  2. Cook the mixture until it reduces in volume to 1.5 cups, about 5 minutes.
  3. Hoisin glaze (pictured above) is a great glaze for poultry.
