Hot cheese sandwiches in an air fryer

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of bread, any kind will do: white, rye, brioche, sourdough, potato, whole grain, or pumpernickel
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise or softened unsalted butter
  • 110 g of sliced ​​processed cheese (about 6 slices), such as American, Cheddar, Muenster, Havarti, Swiss, Fontina, mozzarella, Monterey Jack, Pepper Jack, or provolone.
  • Special equipment: air grill with a capacity of 6 liters.

Preparation:

  1. Place the bread slices on a cutting board or work surface. Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise or softened butter on each slice. Turn the slices over. Top 2 slices with 55 grams of cheese each. Top each slice with another slice of bread, mayonnaise or butter facing out.
  2. Place both sandwiches in the air fryer. Cook at 375°F (190°C) until the top piece of bread is golden brown, about 4 minutes.
  3. Flip the sandwiches and continue to grill until golden brown all over and the cheese is completely melted, another 2–4 minutes. Cut each sandwich in half and serve immediately.
