Baked cheese and roast beef sandwiches topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 165g melted butter + extra for greasing the pan
- 1 tbsp. poppy seeds
- 1 tbsp. sesame seeds
- 3/4 tsp dried garlic
- 0.5 tbsp. l. dried onions
- Coarse salt
- 1 package of sweet Hawaiian buns
- 700 g of thin slices of rare roast beef, preferably premium grade, such as Boar's Head
- 2 cups crispy fried onions, store-bought
- 450 g thin slices of spicy provolone
- 1 cup hot pickled cucumber slices
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 175°C. Grease the bottom of a 22x32 cm baking dish. Mix melted butter, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Without separating the buns, cut the entire layer in half. Place the bottom half in the prepared baking dish. Top with sliced roast beef, then crispy onions, a layer of provolone, and then a layer of pickles. Top with the bun tops. Mix butter with spices, then generously brush the tops of the buns, completely coating them.
- Bake, uncovered, until the cheese is melted and the tops of the buns are golden brown, 15–20 minutes. Cut the sandwiches with a chef's knife.
