Carrots in hoisin sauce with sesame seeds topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 450 g carrots, peeled and cut diagonally into 0.5 cm thick slices.
- 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh chives
Preparation:
- Toast the sesame seeds in a large dry skillet over medium heat, stirring, until lightly browned, about 2 minutes. Transfer to a small plate and set aside.
- To the same pan, add the carrots, hoisin, butter, a pinch of salt, a few grinds of black pepper, and 1/2 cup water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium, cover, and simmer until the carrots are tender and easily pierced with a fork, about 20 minutes.
- Uncover the pan and increase the heat to medium-high. Cook until the liquid has thickened into a glaze, about 2 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
