Frozen Spruce Cocktail

Ingredients:

    Cocktail

  • Crushed candied ginger, for garnishing the glass
  • 20 ml lime juice + a lime wedge to wet the rim of the glass
  • 45 ml of vodka
  • 30 ml white cranberry juice
  • 15 ml elderflower liqueur, such as St-Germain
  • 15 ml orange liqueur, such as Cointreau
  • 7 ml ginger syrup, see recipe below

    Ginger syrup

  • 0.5 cups of sugar
  • 7 cm ginger root, peeled and cut into slices

Preparation:

  1. Place the candied ginger peel on a small plate. Wet the rim of the glass with a lime wedge, then press the rim into the candied ginger peel to adhere. Fill the glass with ice.
  2. Combine vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice, elderflower liqueur, orange liqueur, and ginger syrup in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds; strain into a garnished glass.
  3. Ginger syrup:

    Combine sugar, ginger, and 0.5 cups of water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat, cover, and let steep for 30 minutes. Strain the syrup into a container, cover, and refrigerate. Can be stored for up to two weeks. Yield: approximately 0.5 cups.
