Frozen Froscato Sunrise

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups orange juice + extra for mixing
  • 1 bottle (0.75 l) Moscato wine
  • 1 cup pink lemonade + extra for mixing
  • 1/4 tbsp. + 1 tsp. grenadine
  • 4 maraschino cherries
  • Special equipment: 4 ice cube trays

Preparation:

  1. In a large measuring cup or bowl, combine orange juice with 2 cups of Moscato. Pour the mixture into 2 ice cube trays.
  2. Combine the lemonade, 1 teaspoon of grenadine, and the remaining Moscato in the same bowl and pour into 2 more ice cube trays. They will likely not be filled completely. Freeze for at least 2 hours or overnight (see Note).
  3. Pour 1 tablespoon of grenadine into the bottom of each of 4 glasses. Freeze for 30 minutes.
  4. Add orange ice cubes to a blender and blend until smooth, adding a little orange juice if needed. Remove the grenadine glasses from the freezer. Divide the mixture evenly among the glasses.
  5. Add lemonade ice cubes to a blender and blend until smooth, adding a little more lemonade if needed. Carefully spoon the lemonade mixture over the orange juice mixture in each glass. Garnish each serving with a cherry.

    Note

    If you freeze ice overnight, let the ice cubes sit at room temperature for 15 minutes to soften before blending.
