Orange Blossom Margarita

topcook.tomathouse.com

Ingredients:

    Cocktail

  • 60 ml of tequila, preferably high-quality white
  • 45 ml freshly squeezed lime juice (from 2 limes)
  • 30 ml honey syrup, see recipe below
  • 15 ml orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier
  • Coarse salt to garnish the rim of the glass (optional)
  • 0.5-1 tsp. orange blossom water
  • A tangerine on a branch with a leaf or an orange slice, for decoration

    Honey syrup

  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup water

Preparation:

  1. Combine tequila, lime juice, honey syrup, and orange liqueur in a shaker with ice. Cover the shaker and shake well to combine and chill the drink.
  2. Sprinkle salt on a flat plate. Dampen a paper towel with orange blossom water and run it around the rim of a margarita glass. Press the edges into the salt to adhere it. Strain the cocktail into the glass. Cut a slit in the bottom of the tangerine, almost all the way through, but without cutting through the stem end. Garnish the rim of the glass with the tangerine.
  3. Honey syrup:

Yield: 1 cup (enough for 8 cocktails)

Combine honey and water in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the honey dissolves, about 2 minutes. Let cool completely. The honey syrup can be refrigerated for up to a month.
