Orange Blossom Margarita topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
Cocktail
- 60 ml of tequila, preferably high-quality white
- 45 ml freshly squeezed lime juice (from 2 limes)
- 30 ml honey syrup, see recipe below
- 15 ml orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier
- Coarse salt to garnish the rim of the glass (optional)
- 0.5-1 tsp. orange blossom water
- A tangerine on a branch with a leaf or an orange slice, for decoration
Honey syrup
- 2/3 cup honey
- 1/3 cup water
Preparation:
- Combine tequila, lime juice, honey syrup, and orange liqueur in a shaker with ice. Cover the shaker and shake well to combine and chill the drink.
- Sprinkle salt on a flat plate. Dampen a paper towel with orange blossom water and run it around the rim of a margarita glass. Press the edges into the salt to adhere it. Strain the cocktail into the glass. Cut a slit in the bottom of the tangerine, almost all the way through, but without cutting through the stem end. Garnish the rim of the glass with the tangerine.
- Honey syrup:
Yield: 1 cup (enough for 8 cocktails)
Combine honey and water in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the honey dissolves, about 2 minutes. Let cool completely. The honey syrup can be refrigerated for up to a month.
