Lemon-Floral Martini

topcook.tomathouse.com

Ingredients:

  • 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp. gin
  • 3/4 cup elderflower liqueur, such as St. Germain
  • 1.5 cups of ice

Preparation:

  1. Using a vegetable peeler, remove 8 thin strips of zest from the lemon and set aside. Thinly slice the lemon and place in a small saucepan with the sugar and 1/3 cup water. Bring to a boil and simmer until the sugar dissolves. Let cool and strain the syrup.
  2. Rub a strip of zest along the rim of each of eight martini glasses and place it in the bottom as a garnish. Combine the gin, elderflower liqueur, lemon zest, and ice in a measuring cup or pitcher and stir until the drink is completely chilled. Remove any undissolved ice or strain the cocktail into the prepared glasses. Serve chilled.

    Note

Use a neutral-flavored gin so it doesn't overpower the floral notes of the elderflower liqueur.
