Aromatic summer sangria

Ingredients:

  • 1 apple, peeled and thinly sliced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • 1 orange, divided into segments
  • 3/4 cup frozen cranberry-grape juice concentrate, thawed
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups sparkling water (or half soda and half dry white wine)

Preparation:

  1. In a medium pitcher, combine the apple pieces and lemon juice. Add the orange juice, orange slices, cranberry-grape concentrate, and cinnamon. Let the mixture steep for an hour (or up to 12 hours) to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Just before serving, add sparkling water to the pitcher. Serve in glasses filled with ice.

    An evening option for adults: replace half of the sparkling water with dry white wine.
