Tex-Mex-inspired turkey burgers with avocado spread topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 0.6 kg ground turkey
- 2 cloves garlic, grated
- 2 tsp hot smoked paprika
- 1 avocado, cut in half
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 4 slices pepper jack cheese (about 100 g)
- 4 potato buns with sesame seeds
- Shredded lettuce and tortilla chips, for assembling the sandwich
Preparation:
- In a bowl, combine ground turkey, garlic, paprika, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and a pinch of black pepper; mix with your hands to distribute the ingredients evenly without compacting the mixture too much. Form into 4 1/2-inch-thick patties.
- In a medium bowl, combine half an avocado, mayonnaise, lime juice, and 1/4 teaspoon salt; mash until smooth. Thinly slice the other avocado half and sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Set aside for topping.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat (or preheat a grill to medium-high and oil the grates). Add the patties and cook until golden brown, 3-4 minutes per side. Top each patty with a slice of cheese, cover, and cook until the cheese melts, about 30 seconds.
- Meanwhile, slice the buns in half horizontally and toast them; spread the cut sides with avocado mayonnaise. Serve the patties on the buns with lettuce, sliced avocado, and tortilla chips.
